The Blogging Dog
How can we, as dog owners, make sure that we are impacting our dogs lives in a at that will enrich the social, mental, and health aspects of their lives for sure? How can we know that we are doing the right thing? Choosing the correct trainer, boarding facility, dog food?!??! The list can go on forever...
Well.....the simple answer is that is something your dog relies on you to figure out. Your pup will trust and understand what your needs and wants are for them, and without that guidance you can find yourself in a battle with mischevious and deviant behaviors. First, you have to earn the trust of your pup, and it doesn't matter the age. Whether adopted as an adult - or as a puppy - your leadership through turbulent times will be what establishes the roots of your training tree. Strong roots allow for lots of push and pull in a canine / handler relationship. The more cooperation there is - within the boundaries of clear behavior expectations on THEIR terms - creates a more productive training environment.
Making allies with your dog is just the start.....then you need to make allies with professionals in the industry who can help make things easier for you when it comes to making tough decisions. Groomers, Boarders, Trainers, and of course Veterinarians make a good network to touch in - just to name a few.
Going forward in 2017, I will focus on relaying as much good canine content to you guys as I can. Including the Dogcast Podcast, as well as keeping a regular posting presence on the blog!
Thanks guys!!
