TKOF - Dogcity Blog -How big is your dogs vocabulary?
How much of what you say to your dog does he/she understand........REALLY understand? When you ask for a sit - do they understand the inflection or the actual word itself? When working with your dog - if you can wrap your head around the idea, that your dog responds more to inflection and tone - body language and stature....than they ever will words.
Your words, combined with the tone used (when successful) and the overall look and environment of the conversation are what elicits the sit......Not the definition of the request itself. In other words the don't find the word in day to day conversation a problem - because they tune out human to human talking.....it makes no sense. They can tell the conversation by the tone and body language you are using, While they are side bars to our human conversation - it is where the canine conversation exists in full.
Research calming signals and start to watch the ways that you can communicate in a canine friendly way and it will help impact your overall conversation.
