Paws on the Plaza
As we near our second session of Paws on the Plaza in Plano this month, I wanted to take a second and reflect on some of the topics that I am covering....and why they are so important to me. First of all, we will be covering some basic first aid for our canine companions, for those situations that we hope we never find ourselves in. Being prepared to notice and handle things like symptoms of heat stroke can be invaluable to a common active dog owner in Texas. We will also cover the value of a good vet, and how important those relationships can be.
Ownership of a dog in Texas can be challenging. There are competing markets of purebred breeders, an overwhelming amount of unwanted dogs, and bully breed issues still linger in many of our counties. The most effective way, without a doubt, to impact these problems - is simply to become a better companion to your own dog. Build better communication and training techniques that allow you to care for your pet for the duration of his/her life - which influences those around you and him/her. Peer pressure works in this case, and to apply it - we simply need to set a compassionate, yet firm, and knowledgeable base of learning for our dogs. Your dog has quirks, they all do (we all do) - whether we succeed in spite of our quirks, in a companion animal standard, comes down to whether or not we can communicate with our companion.
All of the Paws on the Plaza events are centered around getting to know your dog better than you already do. Figuring out ways to expand your vocabulary TOGETHER.
